Studio
Infinite Melody studio is Neil’s personal home studio, designed to his own specification. Primarily geared up for sound design and composing purposes, it has also been used to produced multitrack projects. Neil also produces material for other artists and may track in other studios, but edit and mix in the comfort of his own studio.Having grown up on SSL’s and 24 track tape machines, now favours a variety of tools including Apple’s Logic Studio 8, Magix’s Samplitude Professional, and Motu’s Digital Performer. Much of his studio is now based around a Computer based DAW’s and virtual instruments.“The combination of Logic Studio, Digital Performer and Samplitude provides me with a wonderful powerful set of tools, enabling me to compose, sound design, edit and sync to film without worrying to much about the technology, but if i need it…..it is there! Samplitude enables me to work in the post world with no worries about quality or reliability”.
Portable Recording
Neil also does a large amount of recording in the field, using a number of different portable setups. The Focusrite Saffie has enabled Neil to record and produced music all around the world, “with it’s excellent Focusrite preamp’s I have been able to record in the field on a standard laptop”. He also uses a combination of tools, including the Sound Devices MixPre, Edirol R-4 and R-09 recorders with a variety of microphones to capture ambient soundscape and real world sounds for both film sound tracks and sound design. “….Have gear, will travel…”For more information, check out the location recording page.Pictures of the evolution of the studio can be found here.Recording
